work2future's 6th Summit on Entrepreneurship and Innovation

Mayor Sam Liccardo welcomed nearly 300 attendees to the 6th Annual Summit on Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the City Hall Rotunda on May 5 to celebrate Small Business Week. The theme of this year's Summit was “All About Small Business,” with a special focus on immigrant small business owners, and it included multiple workshops on the topics of “Accessing Capital,” “Restaurant Permitting,” “Real Estate Basics,” “Social Media Marketing,” and “How to Sell to Govt. and Big Business.”  The event was co-sponsored by eBay, Wells Fargo, and, and Matt Mahood of the Silicon Valley Organization acted as emcee. Keynote speakers included Damian Hooper-Campbell, eBay's Chief Diversity Officer; Bruce Knopf, County of Santa Clara OED; and Trami Cron, owner of Chopsticks Ally. The Summit also included a feedback session on “Recent Changes to Business Regulations” hosted by the San José's Finance Department and Office of Equality Assurance. partners included AnewAmerica, City of San José, KIVA, Minority Business Development Agency, SCORE, Silicon Valley Small Business Development Center, US Small Business Association, Wells Fargo Bank and work2future.
